Bangkok Real Estate East of the City
Purchasing real estate in Bangkok can be very lucrative and those who have bought into the right buildings at the best locations have seen some pleasing returns on their investments.
If you have read our other articles in this series, then you will know by now that prime locations in the Thai capital are those which are within close proximity to Bangkok’s public transportation network, specifically the MRT, BTS, and Airport Rail Link.
Bangkok’s Eastern Districts
Previous articles have focused on investment opportunities in the city’s northern, southern and western districts. In this article we look at three residential condominiums in the east of Bangkok which are definitely worth consideration.
The real estate market in the eastern districts is dominated by Sukhumvit road. This is also an area of the city where many expats live and work. Property along Sukhumvit road is the most abundant, elaborate, and international of any single location in the capital. Needless to say that purchasing condominiums in this part of town is the most favoured choice with foreign investors.
Sukhumvit road also some excellent choices in the growing micro real estate market, especially in the popular areas of Asoke, Phrom Phong, and Thonglor. If town house investment is more your thing, then Udomsuk and Bang Na are the places to look.
The Sukhumvit Line
The Sukhumvit BTS route is the most used line by Bangkok expats. The range of options in real estate along this stretch is the most varied compared to other parts of town. There are literally hundreds of great condo buildings to choose from, not least because the city’s eastern areas accommodate a total of 14 BTS stations running down from Chit Lom to Bearing. These 14 BTS stations have given rise to multiple residences, from condo developments to apartment blocks, and more recently, luxury houses in gated communities.
Investment Opportunities from On Nut to Chit Lom
The three condominiums we will look at in this piece are located close to the Udomsukt BTS station (we explore real estate investments along the more established stations of On Nut to Chit Lom in the eighth and final part of this miniseries).
These most recent BTS stations to the Sukhumvit line became operational in August 2011, and many brand new condominiums have sprung up in the area as a result. Our choice picks for this part of Bangkok are the Ideo Mix 103, the Abstracts condo at Udomsuk, and the Centric Scene condominium, also in Udomsuk.
The Ideo Mix 103
The Ideo Mix 103, is one of the new wave of Ideo condos that have sprung up around Bangkok in recent years. They are very modern, have cutting-edge style, and are well-located to within a few minutes’ walking distance of an MRT or BTS station.
The Ideo Mix 103 is a 21 story highrise condominium with two connecting towers housing a total of 1,172 units. Accommodation options include well-priced and tastefully designed 24.25 sqm studios, and equally smart one bedroom options of 30.50 sqm. The facilities here include:

Located within easy walking distance to the Udomsuk BTS station, and equipped with excellent facilities, make the Ideo Mix 103 a great choice residence in Bangkok’s east.
The Abstracts Condo Udomsuk
The Abstracts Sukhumvit, opened its doors for the first time in 2011. This is a very well branded resort-styled development located just 250 meters from the Udomsuk BTS station.
The Abstracts Sukhumvit is a low rise construction with four 5 story buildings housing a total of 112 one and two bedroom units. The condos have terrace views of the swimming pool and idyllic garden area, thus adding a serene ambience to the place. Condo facilities include:

Centric Scene is a quality residence just a five minute walk (300 metres) from the BTS Udomsuk Skytrain station, providing residents with quick and easy access to central Sukhumvit.

Investors in the Centric Scene condo can expect returns of approximately 7% per annum.
Bangkok’s East Central
In the next part of this series we will stay with property in the eastern side of Bangkok, only this time we will look at investment opportunities closer to the city center. This is the well-established expat area of Bangkok, usually attracting the more mature investors/residents, with slightly larger budgets at their disposal.
