A group of volunteers have teamed up to help ensure that eight Ukrainian refugees obtain a heat welcome in a Norfolk Broads village.
People from Reedham have joined forces to renovate a detached residence, as they look to make it in good shape for a spouse and children from the war-torn nation so they can live in it for up to three a long time.
Scores of volunteers have been working at the residence in the heart of the village after Broadland District Council gave it the go-in advance.
With cracked walls and some ceilings in the rooms of Nursery Dwelling needing repairs, the neighborhood effort is being led by Dr Tina Davey following she contacted the home’s owner Erika Lyons, from Herefordshire, and whose uncle and aunt had utilized to are living there.
Dr Davey, 54 – a medical professional in regulation – said: “When anything occurred in Ukraine I imagined I would like to provide a area to a Ukrainian refugee, but our residence is quite small and we would not have been equipped to deal with it.
“And quickly it popped into my head Nursery Residence is sitting there vacant and I contacted its proprietor to see if they would be delighted to do everything.
“She was really eager to do it and that’s where it has really gone from.”

“I have acquired about 28 volunteers that have stated they want to get associated in the weekends as they all want to do some thing to aid.
“We are hoping to come across just one prolonged family members”, Dr Davey included.
